2015 the Year of Intention | It Takes a Village

As the old saying goes, it takes a village……

…..well in my case it may take more but I will settle with a few people closest to me to help me through this crazy little venture.

Last year I read the AMAZING book 7: An Experimental Mutiny Against Excess by Jen Hatmaker. In her book she chronicles her 7 month experience of simplifying in 7 areas of excess to just 7 items. In her journey she also has a team of experts or panel of girlfriends she refers to throughout her experience. There are a few people in my life that I refer to a lot and I know other people could benefit from their areas of expertise too. So I thought, I too should have my own team of experts since I basically have no idea what I’m doing on my own. I know will be referring to them a lot in my journey and I hope to have them as guest bloggers as well. I am so excited to share them with you since they are not only a wealth of knowledge but also pretty cool people.

So without further ado, here is my Panel of Experts:

Lindsay: My Simplifying and Natural Product Guru
Last year Lindsay and her family of 5 made the plunge and sold their house in the suburbs to move to a smaller home on the outskirts of town that even came with chickens. Over this time I have watched and been incredibly inspired by their changes to a simpler lifestyle. She is also well versed in essential oils and natural products. I plan on referring to Lindsay a lot as I try to remove chemicals from my home and adapt a slower and simplified life.
You can currently follow her journey on Facebook or her blog.

Lauren: My Fashion Expert
I know what your thinking…what does fashion have to do with simplifying??? Well, two years ago I discovered the idea of a Capsule Wardrobe and fell in love. If you have never heard of it before it’s the idea of reducing your wardrobe per season to a certain amount of items, I like to use my age so this year would be 32 items. The rest of your clothes are either sent away or packed away. I plan on having Lauren help me create a Capsule Wardrobe that is practical for my lifestyle, will help me to keep from overspending, as well as not feeling like a hot mess all the time.
You can find Lauren on Facebook or her Website.

Robbie: My Jack of All Trades
I was lucky enough to adopt Robbie and his family of 3 as a cousins by marriage. He and his family are true backyard homesteaders, the real deal. They live in downtown Kalamazoo, raise chickens, are beekeepers, make their own everything, and he doesn’t even have a cell phone- that’s right iPhone addicts, not smart phone….cell phone! I LOVE them so much! Robbie and his wife Erin are such a wealth of knowledge I feel smarter every time we visit with them. I will be referring to Robbie the most since he is a Stay-at-Home Dad and Erin doesn’t have as much time to answer my bajillion questions. I am currently waiting for them to get home from vacation to ask them why I have failed at making “simple” homemade yogurt twice now.
